New Local History & Genealogy Center

Our new Local History & Genealogy Center at the Hobart Government Center is open with temporary hours beginning Monday, December 2. Visit us on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note that all resources are not all in place yet, and some services may require time and patience. Patrick and the staff can also accept inquiries by email for services during this time. Support Your Library: The Friends of the Troy-Miami County Public Library is a non-profit charitable organization working in partnership with the library to support and expand literacy and the quality of library services and programs for all people through advocacy, volunteerism, and fundraising.

Local History & Genealogy Center

 

The Local History Library serves over 3,000 people a year from all over the country looking for information on family history and historical documents from the Miami County area. The research Library features books, maps, manuscripts, wills, land records, etc. An extensive microfilm/fiche catalog includes county marriage records, census, birth, death, and many other records.

The hours are Mon & Wed. 10-8; Tues., Thurs. & Fri. 10-4; and Sat. 9-1.

Board of Trustees

Troy-Miami County Public Library is a county district library governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees.  Three trustees are appointed by a Common Pleas Court judge and four are appointed by the Miami County Commissioners.  Trustees are appointed for seven-year terms and are not paid a monetary stipend.  All Trustees are Miami County residents.  Ensuring taxpayer dollars are being spent judiciously and establishing policies are two of the primary responsibilities of the Board of Trustees.

Internet Access

Public Computers

Computers with Internet access are available at the Troy and Pleasant Hill libraries and the Maker Lab. While any Ohio resident can get a library card, guest passes are available to all which may be used to check out a computer. (A library card is still required to use the laptops from Troy's laptop kiosk.) It is recommended that documents be saved to a flash drive. Coin-operated printing in black and white or color is available at the Troy main, Maker Lab, and Pleasant Hill libraries.
