Adventure Begins at the Library this summer for our youngest readers, teens, and the young at heart! Let your curiosity soar as you explore and learn about the world. Meet Penguins, enjoy a Magic Show, explore STEAM labs, create cool Crafts, listen to Stories, try Yoga, and chat at Book Clubs. You won’t want to miss out on a summer of discovery at the Troy-Miami County Public Library, Oakes-Beitman Memorial Library in Pleasant Hill, Maker Lab, and Troy Bookmobile! It's so easy to participate, just register, complete your reading log for a chance to win cool Adventure Prizes, and attend programming from June 3 through August 3.
Register at your favorite library in person beginning June 3 to receive all the information. For every 20 minutes you read (or are read to), you are one step closer to completion. You can also complete suggested activities like visiting a playground, writing a letter, or attending a library program to achieve your goal. You can either use a paper log to keep track of your progress or log your reading and activities online through Beanstack. (Pre-register beginning May 13). Finish your online tracking or drop your completed paper log at your favorite library to win an Adventure Prize.
You can read fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, picture books, play an audiobook, or even listen to someone else read and it will count! The paper and online logs are designed to work the same and enter participants for prizes so you can choose the best format for you without missing out on anything. What is Beanstack?
Beanstack is an online tool that TMCPL and many other libraries use to track reading challenges. When you create a Beanstack account for you or your family, you stay connected to future seasonal or special library reading programs. You can download the Beanstack App to your favorite device or visit the website listed below. When summer reading ends, keep reading! You can continue logging tracking.
If you are a parent/caregiver registering your family follow the step-by-step instructions below:
- Go to https://tmcpl.beanstack.org/ and select Register an Individual or Family.
- Click on No when asked if you have previously used Beanstack with Troy-Miami County Public Library.
- Select I am an adult registering a child when asked who you would like to register.
- Complete all the required fields. Keep track of your email and password.
- Depending on the age, you and your children will be automatically pre-registered or registered for any reading challenges available for preschool, school-age, teens, or adults.
- Add more children, if needed.
- You will be asked if you would like to register. If you say Yes complete the required fields.
- You will be asked if you wish to register other adults. If you say Yes, complete the required fields.
- Once you are registered, you will be taken to a Reader Dashboard page. This is where you will track your reading and participation in current reading challenges.
